Root Canals and Extractions

Root Canal

Sometimes that toothache that your child is complaining about is more than just tooth sensitivity that can be treated by rinsing with special toothpaste or mouthwash. It might be a symptom of a more serious problem. One such problem is inflammation or infection of the tooth pulp. If left untreated, infected tooth pulp can lead to more serious.

Tooth pulp is the soft tissue at the center of the tooth, and when it becomes inflamed or infected it can cause severe pain. At Kid City Smiles, we use root canal therapy to treat chronic tooth pulp problems. In the root canal procedure, the affected pulp is removed, and the vacated space at the center of the tooth is filled with a dental composite.

Tooth Extraction

There are times when your child’s toothache can’t even be treated with root canal therapy or any other dental remedy. In such situations, the tooth will have to be extracted in order to prevent the spread of the infection to the other teeth.

At Kid City Smiles, we offer tooth extraction services for many different dental situations, including the following:

  • Badly decayed teeth that cannot be saved or cosmetically repaired.
  • Teeth that are damaged by trauma and cannot be repaired.
  • Teeth that are crowding the jaw, and causing overlapping.
  • Impacted wisdom teeth that are causing problems with the jaw.
  • Baby teeth that are preventing permanent teeth from growing in.
  • Orthodontic correction procedures

Sedation Dentistry

At Kid City Smiles, we work with the Nashville Office Base Anesthesia group to offer sedation dentistry. We understand that sometimes a trip to the dentist can be scary, and reassuring words just aren’t enough to calm a child’s dental anxieties. Sedation dentistry is a safe and effective way to help children relax while they are receiving dental care.

Fear of the dentist can lead to skipped appointments, which can lead to lengthy gaps in routine dental care. There are many dental problems that can occur if routine dental checkups are skipped, so it is important to stay consistent with dental care checkups. If sedation dentistry is what it takes to give you or your child the courage to keep that dental appointment, then we will see that it is available to you.

Emergency Policy

We understand that sometimes things happen that need immediate attention. After all, accidents don’t conveniently happen on a routine six-month dental checkup schedule. That is why we have an emergency dentistry policy and plan in place to be available when you need us. For your convenience during those inconvenient dental emergencies, we have a system where team members at Kid City Smiles rotate a cell phone among themselves to be sure that someone is always available to assist you if you should have a dental emergency.

We are here for you whether you or your child needs a root canal, tooth extraction, sedation or help with a dental emergency. Just give us a call, and we will take care of your dental need!
